And, completely unacceptable.

I think it was in 1989 or 1990 that a brand of toothpaste sold in Hong Kong, called Darkie Toothpaste, changed it's spokesface - that of a black
man in top hat with exaggerated lips and a huge set of sparkly white choppers.. even changed the name of the paste, too. (see this page, midway down: http://www.toothpasteworld.com/specials.htm )

This Mexican stamp represents a reverse trend? And in relation to Fox's completely ridic comments about the work ethics of blacks of some weeks back, we now have a couple of data points we can use to draw a line to represent where Mexico might be going with respect to racism, and it ain't a good place.

Vicente, Vicente, Vicente...what up, man?! Is this how to help your people out of crushing poverty? Who does it help to promote and aggravate racial stereotypes?

racism is so easy...it's so easy for a mind to just fritz out and go there.

it's harder to stop and THINK.

and it's harder when it's backed up by centuries of historical habit. shit, man.

Yes. Even harder when your government, in cooperation with the meedja, right-wing blowhards, the church, and countless cultural institutions not only preserve, but deepen it as accepted practice and thought.

It's not by accident that we have it. It's by design.
