a modest proposal: bill bennett on crime and abortion

Okay. So Bennett takes a stat on poverty's effect on crime, in general, in Freakonomics, conflates it with blacks in general, and says something astoundingly ridiculous. What amazes me is that so many people at mediamatters were ignoring the fact that he took "poor" and conveniently assumed "black," and would defend his comments as not racist because there was some statistical relationship between race and crime, and then say, "Well, he was saying it was WRONG, anyway!" Um, since his underlying assumption betrayed his racist leanings, who cares what statistics can be cooked up to spuriously support...whatever, you're right, I'm gonna go have some pizza and booze and watch Footballers' Wives.

like i said on my other blog, i have to start keeping a list of old men i want to kick in the butt if i see them.

in fact, i just might make that a weekend post (so i can stew on it some.)
