technical support
i've been wanting to add a button to my sidebar and can't figure out the effing thing. jp? anyone?
first of all, don't call yourself dumb at anything.
second, i don't know how to put a button in the sidebar. What i would do is find the button already living on somebody's blog, copy the source language and copy it into your source code in the sidebar section. I have no idea how to do that.
this one's pretty straightforward...you just place your word(s) requiring the change, like bolding, italicizing, within the tags. there's an 'open' tag and a 'close' tag that must be there..sort of like saying 'here's where the bolding begins, and here's where it ends.
Example:
bush is a "< b >"knuckle-headed ninny "< /b >" who just "< i >"barely"< /i > rates above pond slime on the evolutionary ladder.
OK..those are the tags - don't use the spaces before and after < or >; I just did that so the blog wouldn't hide them..here's how it looks:
bush is a knuckle-headed ninny who just barely rates above pond slime on the evolutionary ladder.
Actually, I believe that you DO know how to use the tags; I just wanted an excuse to berate the cretin-in-chief.
a-non: you are my hero. i finally got what closed tags are. for ages i've been putting just the open tags around things and when it tells me to close them i felt clueless and so just did *this*. lame!
aaron: i totally get that. i even tried copying the html for the blogger button at the bottom of my sidebar. but i think the source code for the button i want is strange. but i'll try it - i have nothing but time!

ok. tech-deficient.
i can't even figure out how to use the html tags in comments...aargh.
What kind of button? Probably an image that links to something, right? So you'll use something like:
(a href="www.wherever.com")(img src="whatever.jpg")(/a)
But instead of the ()'s, use <>'s.
d, I so empathize with you. As lovely as the comments are, they mean absolutely nothing to me. Like, what does it mean?
Some useful html tags...

Here's a site that let's you design the button you want, no muss no fuss. Right click on it when finished to save it.
Store it in something like flickr so you can link to it.
Hmmmm. This isn't difficult. Just long winded. Email me and I'll walk you through it. nydramamama [at] gmail [dot] com
What site was i referring to? (I can hear you asking that you know.)
