say what you will about Gen X's rampant cynicism and selfishness. at least we can read.
so says a new study that has found that literacy among COLLEGE grads have dropped significantly since 1992 (the year i graduated college.)
to my liberal, 'america-hating', complex sentence-loving professors from ucla who thought critical thinking was more important than spouting platitudes about patriotism and who are all probably on david horowitz's shit list: THANK YOU.
to generations Y and O: geez, no wonder you voted for the shrub.

i think our 'meh' and 'feh' is a lot more honest and useful than the boomer's litany of memememe! and a whole lot more useful than Y and O's constant consumerist dumbness. i don't buy into the whole image of the Gen Xer but i do think that our cynical askant gaze is one reason why we don't buy into bullshit.
and we can read.
besides, we're just waiting for the greatest generation to die off so we can swathe the world in irony. (so says my roomie.)
well, we were sort of hoping that gen x's lack of desire to reproduce would topple our society, but it seems gen y & o just can't seem to use contraception very well and the generation after that - well, they won't have access to contraception at all.
Gen X's influence is thus negligible.
