A Rail System (and Patience) Are Stretched Thin in Chicago - New York Times
i made plans to meet a friend up in lincoln square on sunday for lunch.
i left the house shortly before noon; i walked to the chicago bus about 2-3 blocks away; it came after a teeny 3-5 minute wait. then i transferred to the brown line/franlkin stop which took *forever* to arrive. when i finally got to lincoln square it was 1.30.
90 minutes for a usual 45 minute train ride (if that.) unbelievable.
and this morning?
a normal 15 minute bus ride took twice the time.

tell me about it. If i drive to the loop from my home, it takes at most 35 minutes in rush hour traffic. If I take the EL, it takes at least 1.5 hours.
And don't even get me started on the red line. I can't even hear my iPod at full volumne riding that line.
if chicago wins the olympics, it MUST do something about the train system. every chicago metro neighborhood is bursting at the seams. how does the city think people will get to work? if we all drove traffic would get worse!
it's so frustrating that they let the system get this bad.
